In our world mercy killing, or euthanasia, is often considered unethical. Although this act is performed for the benefit of one, it is still technically deemed as murder. When committing euthanasia the killer cares for the one that he/she takes the life of. This makes the act difficult to carry out and also evokes a myriad of emotions. Numerous people agree with euthanasia however, others feel quite differently. Today many still cope with the controversial issue of euthanasia.

Euthanasia is the act of putting a person to death painlessly if he/she is suffering from an incurable condition. In the book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, George does this for his friend Lennie, who is mentally handicapped.
