This article deals with the topic of child abuse and how these people can be treated with psychotherapy. Statistics shows that there were approximately 903,000 children who were abused in 1998 in United States. Out of which 12 percent were sexually abused. The children who have experienced sexual abuse usually are really emotional. A child who experiences sexual abuse does not trust anyone and thinks that everything that happened is because of his/her own behavior. This can be treated with a proper psychotherapy because "person's interactions in the world are intricately tied to his or her internal perceptions is consistent with individual psychology." Adlerian psychotherapy provides a safe environment of acceptance and encouragement for a child who has been abused sexually or mentally.
