~ Vladimir Ilyich For Russia, the world was a very different place in the early twentieth century. After over three hundred years of Romanov succession, and little improvement in social conflict, it was time for a change. However, creating such change would not be so easy. The people of Russia needed a charismatic leader, one with a plan: they found these characteristics in Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, more commonly known as Nikolai Lenin. He believed that great ideas were the key to achieving great power. Thus, by using the foundations of Marxist philosophy in Germany, Lenin and his Bolsheviks (former Social Democrats) gave the Russians new guidelines that enabled the people to overthrow the corrupt Provisional Government inaugurated after the end of the tsarist regime.
