Wesley Clark is a man with humble beginnings. He was born Wesley Kanne to Benjamin and Veneta Kanne, but his father died when Wesley was just a young boy. His mother later remarried a man named Victor Clark who became a loving and influential stepfather, and Wesley later changed his name to Wesley Kanne Clark. His parents had a profound effect on his life. After graduating from West Point at the age of twenty-one, he went to Oxford and received a Masters Degree in philosophy, politics, and economics. He then went into the Army and served for 33 years. He rose to the rank of Four Star General and has received numerous awards including the Purple Heart and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
