Summary: Examines how Native Americans arrived in America. Explores their early development and culture. Discusses the impact early American settlers had on the Native Americans.
Many archaeologists have come to the conclusion that beginning as much as 40,000 years ago, people migrated eastward from Asia to the lands that we now call home; America. There are many discrepancies about whether or not to say Christopher Columbus really discovered America. Christopher Columbus did not in fact discover these lands but, reencountered them. Many people would refer to the original occupants of America as Indians, which is a misconception first made by Christopher Columbus himself. He thought him and his crew had reached India like they intended, but instead reached an entirely different continent with people who had descended from those who migrated eastward from Asia. These descendents today are called Native Americans.
