Affirmative action has long been a source of debate in America. Affirmative action was originally instated to promote equality and diversity in both the academic and professional fields. However, many question this system, as it's often one's financial and economic status that gives them the disadvantage, rather than ones color. In many parts of the Bronx, for example, there are poor schools that have just as many Albanians and other Whites as they do Blacks and Hispanics, however, when the time comes to apply to college, many Black people have the advantage, as a "quota" of minorities of the school must be filled. This quota does not extend to those of White decent who have just as much of a limited access to a good education as those of Black decent. Therefore, reverse discrimination has been put in place of the discrimination black peoples have felt for centuries...
