School Dress Codes

Summary: Debates the issue of school dress codes. Argues that such codes limit a student's ability to dress comfortably. Considers the necessity of dress codes but recommends they be adapted to student personality and sense of independence.
"It's 100 degrees outside and while everyone at other schools where shorts, students at West Campus High are refined to wearing pants." Schools today have many rules, one of them being the dress code. Why? So that they are allowed to create the image of ideal students to show off like "a new car." Although the faculty and teachers at West Campus follow the code of dress, it must change! It is a restriction upon the comfort ability, personality, and freedom of students.

Firstly, the dress code limit's the ability to be comfortable during their time at school. "Cotton sweats are no acceptable, however nylon sweats may be worn" (pg. 3 of West Campus 2003/2004 Student Handbook) is an absurd rule because sweats are easily more relaxing then bulky jeans.
