Finally the Girl is the story of a mother, a sister and a daughter in a century of war. The story is related to a girl called Sally and tells us of her life- from the First World War, right up until the war on Iraq.

It starts off when Sally is 10 at the time and her great grandmother has sent Sally and her mother to find the name of her husband at a memorial. They cannot find the name and so they return. Sally is made to promise her mother not to tell her great grandmother about it as it will upset her very deeply.

It then goes to the scene of the protest against the war in Iraq where Sally meets her sister Rosy along with her baby. They meet and both end up having an argument and go off as Rosy tells her sister that...
