A Comparison of Ever After and Cinderella

Summary: Compares and contrasts the fairy tale story "Cinderella" and the film Ever After. Analyzes each text. Analyzes the film from the director's perspective.
Plot Cinderella ran away on strike of midnight when everything will return to normal. i.e. cloth, carriage, horse etc. Prince sent Danielle away after she announced her status of being a servant.

Character Cinderella is submissive and gentle, she can not stand up for people, is uneducated, a "sitting duck" waiting for the prince's arrival. Danielle is unconventional, with all odds stacked against her (stands up against a forceful stepmother) intelligent and independent, definitely not waiting around for the prince to rescue her.

One evil, wicked stepmother and two evil, ugly stepsisters. Treated Cinderella badly as a servant. Not pure wicked evil, showed some sympathy towards Danielle, but does became evil later on. Jacqueline, one of her stepsisters is beautiful, kind and gentle but the other is evil, of whom chases after the prince in order to win the "crown."
