John Adams, second president of the United States of America, was a man of compassion and intellect. His service to the country was based upon justice, righteousness and deep faith in God. "I set out with firm resolutions...never to commit any meanness or injustice in the Practice of Law." In private, he doubted and questioned himself, but in public he frequently alienated people with a self-righteous and egotistical attitude.
