The short story that will be reviewed is "Sonny Blues," it was written by James Baldwin. This story is about an African American family in Harlem, New York some time in the 50's; that deals with their personal problems and issues. The theme of the story is about family and how we may take different turns in life as family members, but how we should embrace each other with respect and understanding: it is also about respect for others, our responsibility as family members.
The narrator, which happens to be Sonny Blues' brother, has three major phases. The first one, comes right after the narrator reads in the newspaper that his brother, Sonny was arrested for using and selling drugs.
