My Evil Stepmother

Summary: A personal essay detailing a less than ideal relationship with a stepmother. Examines the issues of guilt, betrayal and pride. Details how the relationship damaged a previously healthy relationship with a parent.
Everyone has somebody that they wish they had never met. A coworker, schoolmate, a friend that was guilty of betrayal, or something of the sort. For most people, however, this person is not part of their family. With my fortunes, the person that I wish I had never met is Millie, a.k.a "The B**h", or more comprehensively, the beast of a woman who married my father. Not stepmother. That term is too endearing, and insinuates that I acknowledge her as a person. "B**h" works better with her personality. My life has been bumpier than the face of a teenager with acne since that wedding. There were no warning signs of impending hell until it was too late. Worse yet, my pride interfered with any hope of being able to salvage some happiness from the situation.
