Summary: Essay provides a summary of the book "Code to Zero" by Ken Follett.
In 1958, Luke awakens in the public toilets of DC's Union Station. In the mirror he looks at the reflection of a bum. This image has no impact on him because he has no idea who he is. A companion, Pete, explains that he is Luke, a drunken bum, and that they shared a bottle of whiskey the previous night. However, even though the bum's story is believable, being a bum seemed wrong to Luke. As he was thinking, he also notices how he has no crave for alcohol as a real alcoholic. He determines that Pete was lying and runs to the streets.

Luke begins to search for his lost identity and wonders how he lost his memory or if someone went through the trouble of setting up a phony scenario. As he roamed the streets, he finds a library. Luke finds a section about memory loss and...
