The Character Rose of Sharon in "Grapes of Wrath" Receives an Attitude Adjustment

Summary: Essay describes the change of personality of the character Rose of Sharon in the novel "Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck.
Rose of Sharon is Tom's younger sister. She is pregnant and she is to be wed to Connie Rivers. In the novel Rose of Sharon seemed to be irritable, unpredictable, and always sick. I think most of it was due to her pregnancy, but I also feel she has been a little self centered her whole life. But she undergoes a complete transformation at the end of the novel.

She upset everyone who was traveling with her because she bickered a lot. But because she's pregnant, Rose of Sharon complained more than most, mostly after the Joads reached California.

She also seemed to be very over protecting of her child. For example, when the family dog gets ran over, she wonders if it will harm her baby. Or she wonders if the baby will be hurt by, going over a bumpy road. When the religious fanatic came to...
