Summary: Discusses the writing "Scandal in an Athenian Household" and debates which character was right.
Demarete's actions of cheating on her husband, Euphiletos, were not right but in the situation that she was in, she had her reasons for doing what she did. She was a woman, in Athens who was not given far rights compared to men, she was not in love with her own husband but had to marry him anyway, and most important of all, was punished very unfairly for her actions. Euphiletos, who murdered another man, was not punished at all, which in my opinion is very wrong. Obviously, cheating on your spouse is a bad thing to do to them, but it is not as bad as murder. Demarete should not have been punished so harshly for what she did.

Women were treated very badly in Demarete's time. They were confined to stay inside the house, do household chores, and raise their daughters to do the same. Girls...
