Summary: Essay compares and contrasts the two poems of "Hiccups" by Marion Bear and "Mother to a Son" by Langston Hughes. It compares the equalities of the mothers as well as the conflicting differences.
Between the poems about their mothers, "Hiccups" and "Mother to a Son," there is much similarity as there is difference. They both speak of their mothers and show the personality traits within the story so the emotional vibe you receive from this character will be plainly viewed as what the story suggests. This gave it the ability to be depicted by the difference of the traits within the story.

In the story/poem "Mother to Son" the description of the mother was one of leniency, who believed in hard work to become a success, however, did not believe in implementing strong force to make the child do so.
