Germany, with Adolf Hitler, the German Chancellor, and his Nazi thugs; Japan, led by Emperor Hirohito; and Italy, controlled by Bonito Mussolini, were the most powerful countries on the Axis side of the war. The top three for the Allied countries were Great Britain, The Soviet Union, and the U.S. The war started in Asia during 1931 and lasted until 1945, which was a fourteen-year war.
