On August 6th, 1945, the first Atom Bomb was dropped in the military base city of Hiroshima, Japan. It was the only uranium bomb then in existence then and was dubbed "Little Boy." Colonel Paul Tibbets delivered the bomb on a four- engine superfortress bomber. In this horrendous attack about 180,000 people were killed, wounded or missing. Since Japan continued to resist surrendering, another atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese naval base city of Nagasaki leaving a casualty of about eighty thousand people. Ever since these attacks the question of whether or not the atom bombing of Japan was justified has been discussed numerous times. The atom bombing of Japan was a barbaric step taken by the United States to respond to the natural stubbornness of a nation like Japan against surrendering unconditionally.
