Summary: The movie Jason and the Argonauts begins with the conquering of Thessalay by Pelias. Pelias kills Jason's father, the King of Thessalay and the rest of his family except Jason himself because he is warned by an oracle that in killing Jason he would also die.

The movie Jason and the Argonauts begins with the conquering of Thessalay by Pelias. Pelias kills Jason's father, the King of Thessalay and the rest of his family except Jason himself because he is warned by an oracle that in killing Jason he would also die. The oracle then disappears but not before she warns Pelias to beware of a one sandaled man that will come and defeat him. Years later when Jason returns to reclaim his throne he saves Pelias from drowning in a river and in the act looses his sandal. Pelias sees the missing sandal and remembering the oracles prediction sends Jason on a dangerous voyage to find the Golden Fleece in a land called Colchis.
