Summary: The Current Status of Flag Desecration in the US.
Flag desecration in the United States has been an issue of debate for hundreds of years. Yet, even with the passing of amendments or bills within congress or state governments, not a single one of these government actions has really been enforced without great political protest or uprising. While some view it as perjury, others view it as a form of expression. However, with the events of September 11th, 2001, a new trend of patriotism struck and country and opinions have changed.

Within recent news, nothing has occurred congressionally or within the media since July 2002. Moreover, it is believed that most people have come to respect the American Flag as a true symbol of the country rather than an effigy.
