After Federation in 1901 Australia still had Ties with it Mothering country Great Britain. These ties included major things like Foreign Affairs and Political ties, to more minor issues like Flag and National Anthems. Most these issues were changed after World War Two, but still we are tied with Great Britain.

Firstly Australia was and still is controlled by The Queens Representative. This person is known as the Governor General. This person makes the final decisions in laws made, and keeps in close contact with the Queen, and follows by her decisions. Although Australia made a Federal Government after Federation, The Queen is still the highest power in Australia.

Secondly, after Federation; Australia didn't have a choice of foreign affairs happening in the world. For example when World War One and World War Two erupted Australia had no other choice but to follow Great Britain into battle.
