Summary: This is an essay that I worked really hard on, and recieved a grade I think I deserved. I truly think I touched the deeper essence of a disorder that robs many teenagers today of their self-respect. Anorexia.
"I just lost 20 pounds...but for some odd reason...it's still not enough!" Teenagers, mainly females, tend to spend a lot of time worrying about their weight. They often feel judged on a basis of how thin they are as compared to the media-made stick figure models, actresses and singers. The causes for this feeling are endless, yet they all seem to tie into one key aspect: peer pressure. During the teen years, impressing peers has a great affect on the way a person acts. Anorexia Nervosa is a serious illness, capable of robbing its victims of their happiness, their health and even their lives. Luckily for modern medicine, there are ways to help out this eating disorder. But before rushing to those, it is necessary to take a closer look at the causes of this dreadful plague of low self-confidence.
