Prime Minister, Jean Chretien made his decision on Monday March 18, 2003, that Canada would not join a war against Saddam Hussein's regime without a new decision from the UN Security Council. With the pressure facing Canada, did Jean Chretien make the right decision by staying true to Canada's peacekeeping role and avoiding the entry into war? It can be looked at positively from both sides, perhaps that is why it was such a difficult decision for Chretien to reach. With respectable reasoning and good judgment of the situation Chretien believes not taking part in this war is the right thing to do.
