Summary: The types of music that have evolved since 1900 to reflect the values of society.
Since nineteen hundred music has become no more than a reflection of our society's values. This is evident by taking a closer look at the music style's adaptation and through the music styles that emerged since then. From the way we play the music, to the lyrics that the songs contain, our music is the way our society expresses values, morals, or other things that they view of high importance.

From nineteen hundred to nineteen twenty, musicians and composers were looking for new ways of expressing themselves through their music. This rebellious attitude made many new composers develop their own new styles that broke away from the traditional boundaries already set by their predecessors. These modernists were the trend-setters of what was to continue until the present day. One of the most controversial composers of this time was Gustav Mahler.
