January 1st, the official start of the New Year, has been a day of promises. The average Joe, seeing the New Year laid out before him ripe of the picking, makes resolutions. To cut out sugar, starting exercising, or approaching the cutie next door are always popular. But my grandma always says (so in turn so does my mother) that whatever you do on the first day of the New Year you'll continue to do until the end the year. For those of you who locked yourselves out of your cars on that day, you have my sympathies.
