Summary: Biography of Socrates, Greek philosopher.
Throughout history there has been many notable people that stand out and are unique. Many people have made important discoveries and helped modern society even though their lives were hundreds of years before ours. One of these people was Socrates from 469 B.C. to 399 B.C. Socrates helped to influence many philosophers and preceding generations through his teachings and beliefs.

Socrates was born in Athens in the year 469 B.C. He was the son of Sophroniscus and Phraenarete. Sophroniscus was a sculptor and Phraenarete was a midwife. As a child he did not stand out or receive any special treatment. He was given a regular elementary education in the subjects literature, music, and gymnastics.
