Summary: Causes, symptoms, and treatments of Fibromyalgia
    An increasingly common problem affecting an estimated three to six million Americans is fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).  Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterized by the widespread onset of pain throughout the body.  Many people diagnosed with FMS complain that they ache all over and many times they will also experience a large number of other symptoms, which usually don't appear to be related to each other.  Of the people diagnosed with FMS it has been found to me more common in women than men by an approximate ratio of of 20 to one, and usually begins during the ages of 29 to 37 years (Welch 1998).
