Tarot cards are used for predicting the future and teaching complicated mystical concepts through symbolism and a knowledge of how the universe works. Cards drawn by hand first appeared in the 12th century and it is from these that the familiar version used today takes its origins, after the way in 14th century Italy. Besides the proper steps to take in the reading itself the diviner (reader) must use their own imagination, intuition, tact and have the ability to see different meanings in the cards then exactly what they are alone. The reader holds a great responsibility.
