Summary: This is a persuasive essay about PerformancePlus and some of it's effects.
Do you have $393 million dollars lying around your house? I don't, and I don't believe the state of Utah does either. This is how much PerformancePlus costs.

PerformancePlus is a program the legislature wants implemented in Utah schools. This program is the Utah State Board of Education's proposal for competency-based education (pamphlet). The emphasis of education will depend on what the students learn and show on tests, as compared to actually being in class. PerformancePlus is a program being instituted to make it easier for schools to follow the No Child Left Behind act.

Right now students take many core classes and have 9 electives to choose from. Students must take these classes, receive a D- or better, and take the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test.

Core classes are required by the schools and by the state. These classes include English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.,. You have to...
