Summary: Essay provides information about my trip to Carlsbad Caverns.

I enjoyed doing my National Park project on Carlsbad Caverns, located in New Mexico, and is 2,238 miles from Norfolk, MA. This national park was discovered in 1901, when a young cowboy spotted about 700,000 bats flying out of one of the caves at dawn. They were going to find food.

The park was seen in 1901. Do you know how it formed and started though? 250,000,000 years ago, Carlsbad was actually an ocean. It dried up and is now a lot of caves. In these caves, there are rock formations. These are called stalagmites. Stalagmites are formed by what evaporated water leaves behind.

Carlsbad Caverns is 46,753 acres. This large piece of land is covered in beautiful things. There are caves to explore, bats to watch and much more!

Carlsbad was a national monument in 1923. In 1930, it became a national park. Carlsbad Caverns' birthday is on May 14. The difference between a national park...
