Summary: Essay discusses the chemical of oxytocin as well as its purpose.
"The hormone best known for its role in inducing labor may influence our ability to bond with others." This is the main idea of my article. In humans, oxytocin stimulates uterine contractions during birth, milk ejection during lactation, and is also released during sexual orgasm in both men and women. This article bases it's thesis on the idea that oxytocin not only aids in childbirth, but also in relationships. This relationship may be with a spouse or a child. Also, this article contains ideas that oxytocin may have a part in depression and interpersonal stress. Oxytocin is known to facilitate bonding in other animals, and this article is the first step in exploring whether or not oxytocin plays a role in the emotional behavior of humans.
