Summary: Essay discusses how "The Seven Stages" by Daniel Reinhold and "Gary's House" by Debra Oswald are examples of metaphysical poetry.
The seven stages and garys both use theatre as a means to reflect upon the world and content created in and as a tool to present concerning and important issues and struggles that make up the Australian community. Just as in Gary's house a repeated metaphor is used, in this case it is the suitcase full of photographs. The contents of this symbolize the past affliction and loss experienced by the indigenous everywoman.

The seven stages is a faction. The throughline of the piece is woven from many events and stories creating a universal theme told through the personal experience of the indigenous everywoman. The scene `Reconciliation' epitomizes the struggle and tribulations of the character- acting as the mouthpiece of performance association and the necessity for reconciliation.
