South Africa is one of the most prosperous countries in the continental Africa. It is abundant with minerals and energy sources form the economy of Africa. It has emerging markets in the latest technology, communications, and energy and transport sectors. The stock exchange ranks among the 10 largest in the world and has a massive transportation business for its imports and exports. Even with big export business in gold and diamonds that fuels the South African economy, the economic growth is very slow and employment rates are low. Low employment has plagued South Africa since the apartheid. The country mostly consists of middle-income family though half the country lives in poverty. The country suffers through major inequality problem as 5.4 million people live in "first world" conditions and an extreme 53 percent of the population live in poor third world conditions.
