Summary: Essay provides a description of what it means to be classified as a "Southerner."
When you hear the term `Southerner', what comes to mind? For many people who don't live in the South, they think of `slow talking' `cow-tipping' and `farmland.' For me it means good old Southern food, like collard greens or black eyed peas. It means sitting on the porch front porch in a wooden rocking chair, listening to the crisp sound of the wood creaking as the chair rocks back and forth, while talking to your family and reflecting on your day. It is watching the condensation dripping from your empty glass of sweet iced tea. Being Southern is calling everyone family, no matter if they are or not. Being Southern is a state of mind and it means different things to everyone.
