Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes is a remarkable story about a young boy named Johnny who changes throughout the book. The story takes place in Boston in a little house within Hancock's Wharf on Fish Street. Johnny in the beginning is a cocky, feisty boy of fourteen who is the top apprentice of Mr. Laphams silver shop but changes when he burns his hand because Dove gives him a broken crucible. After he burns his hand his life starts to change. He leaves the Laphams and begins to wonder the streets of Boston with his burnt hand thrust in his pocket and a hat tilted to the corner of his eye " He looked like a criminal." As time passes he meets Rab a young boy two years older than Johnny, Rab works for his Uncle Lorne at the Boston Observer office. Johnny feels he can tell Rab anything...
