Summary: Essay analyzes the 20th Century Poetry of Sylvia Plath's "Mirror" and "Lady Lazarus."
My poetry essay is based on a poet named Sylvia Plath. She was born in Boston Massachaussetts in 1932. Much of her time was spent in the Eastern coast of the United States. In 1956 she married a Ted Hughes but ended a few years later in divorce. She wrote many poems, most of which were based on suffering and death. She had experienced several suicide attempts, but finally committed suicide in 1963.

The two poems I am focusing on are `Mirror' and `Lady Lazarus'. I will point out the similarities and differences between the two poems.

`Lady Lazarus' the title itself, gives us some idea what the poem is about. It gives us a well-known name in the Bible. Lazarus was a character brought back to life by Jesus Christ. This title gives us the indication that the poem may be associated with a dead person being brought back to...
