2 A heart resigned, submissive, meek,
My great Redeemer’s throne,
Where only Christ is heard to speak,
Where Jesus reigns alone.
3 Oh, for a lowly, contrite heart,
Believing, true, and clean,
Which neither life nor death can part
From him that dwells within;—
4 A heart in every thought renewed,
And full of love divine;
Perfect, and right, and pure, and good,
A copy, Lord, of thine.
5 Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart;
Come quickly from above;
Write thy new name upon my heart—
Thy new, best name of Love.

Triumphant Grace. (847)
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
2 ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved:
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed!
3 Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
4 The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

The Peace of God. (725)
We bless thee for thy peace, O God
Deep as the soundless sea,
Which falls like sunshine on the road
Of those who trust in thee.
2 That peace which suffers and is strong,
Trusts where it cannot see,
Deems not the trial way too long,
But leaves the end with thee;—
3 That peace which flows serene and deep,
A river in the soul,
Whose banks a living verdure keep;
God’s sunshine o’er the whole.
4 Such, Father! give our hearts such peace,
Whate’er the outward be,
Till all life’s discipline shall cease,
And we go home to thee.

The Voice of Jesus. (666)
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Thy head upon my breast.”
2 I came to Jesus as I was,
Weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in him a resting-place,
And he has made me glad.
3 I heard the voice of Jesus say
“Behold! I freely give
The living water; thirsty one!
Stoop down, and drink, and live.”
4 I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in him.
5 I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s Light;
Look unto me; thy morn shall rise,
And all thy day be bright.”
6 I looked to Jesus, and I found,
In him my Star, my Sun;
And, in that light of life, I’ll walk
Till traveling days are done.
