Title:  Roget’s Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases

Author:  Roget

Release Date:  April 19, 2004 [eBook #10681]

Language:  English

Character set encoding:  Us-ASCII

These files were assembled by L. John Old, Napier University, Edinburgh, from MICRA’s contributed eBook of Roget’s Thesaurus (Project Gutenberg’s #22).

Because the Thesaurus is so large, it has been subdivided into two main components, the Body and the Index.  In addition, separate files with the part of speech (POS) are available.  These are in Rich Text Format (rtf) as well as Microsoft’s Word .doc format, because conversion to rtf from various programs was not entirely satisfactory (the Index is not available in all formats, for the same reason).  HTML is available, though it is not as clean as we would like (we hope that new programs in the future will allow us to generate better HTML from the .doc or .rtf).

Plain text is also available.  Please enjoy these files, but Dr. Old requests you do not incorporate them into commercial products or services.

This and all associated files of various formats will be found in:  http://www.gutenberg.net/1/0/6/8/10681

Updated editions will replace the previous one—the old editions will be renamed.
