In the following essay, Munro examines the publishing histories of two little-known works by Dumas, the historical romance Le comte de Moret and the drama Pietro Tasca.

This article is primarily concerned with the "missing" manuscripts of two works by Alexandre Dumas, père, Le comte de Moret and Pietro Tasca. But these, it should be noted, are not alone among his works in being "missing", for various other manuscripts of his, all plays, may also, for a variety of reasons, be counted as lost.
