When Dave Winfield left the University of Minnesota, he was drafted by professional baseball, basketball, and football teams. He chose to sign with the San Diego Padres and began one of the greatest careers in major league history. A 12-time All-Star, Winfield has earned some impressive lifetime statistics. He is one of only 19 players to have over 3,000 hits, and in 1992 when the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series championship, Winfield delivered the game-winning hit. In addition to his playing highlights, he has helped kids through his Winfield Foundation, making him a hero on and off the field.
