Brian Boitano has always set high goals for himself. First, he decided to become a figure skater and practiced on roller skates until his parents agreed to ice skating lessons. Then he decided to win the biggest championship in the sport, the Olympic gold medal, and accomplished that feat at the 1988 Winter Olympics. When he turned professional, he decided he wanted to be the best and he was, winning five professional titles. Finally, he decided he wanted one more chance to skate in the Olympics. In 1994 he achieved this last goal when he took to the ice in Lillehammer, Norway.

Brian Boitano was born October 22, 1963, in Mountainview, California. The youngest of four children (he has a brother and two sisters), Boitano was raised in the San Francisco suburb of Sunnyvale. His dad, Lew, was a banker who had played minor league baseball, a sport Boitano also played when...
