Choi’s Yolk is a young adult novel in which Jayne Baek, a young Korean American woman living in New York City, struggles with her sister June’s cancer diagnosis as well as her own eating disorder. Written from Jayne’s point of view in a straightforward, personal style, the narrative largely covers everyday events, adding lightness and humor to the main drama of the plot.
