Kalynn Bayron's novel This Wicked Fate is a young adult fantasy. Bri Greene is on a quest to save her mother who was taken to the underworld. Bri sets out on this quest with the help of her biological aunt and the new friends she has made. She encounters gods and fights off villains who are willing to kill to attain immortality. At the end of her quest, Bri settles into a happy life. The main themes of this novel are accepting the impossible, using care when trusting others, important effects of family histories, expectations vs. reality, and fate vs. will power.
