The River Bank Overview

Kij Johnson's sly, modern fairy tale The River Bank takes place in a fantasy world where small woodland creatures act like humans: talking to each other, building their own houses, and wearing their own clothes. When a mole named Beryl and a rabbit named Rabbit move into the neighborhood River Bank, Rabbit quickly becomes enchanted with the wealthy Toad and his self-important tales of adventure. Rabbit accidentally becomes Toad's accomplice when he steals a motorcycle in Town and getting back to River Bank is a lot harder for two criminals on the lam.
