“The Plover” is a contemporary novel by Brian Doyle in which Declan O’Donnell takes to the Pacific Ocean in his small fishing boat, the Plover, intending to live away from people but ends up surrounded by them instead. "The Plover" deals with important themes of family, love, life, adventure, and society as Declan struggles not only to be the master of his own life, but also to care for the people who exist around him.
