The New Me Overview
The New Me is a literary novel by Halle Butler about a 30-year-old woman named Millie experiencing an existential crisis, partly in response to overwhelming feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression. When Millie believes she is about to be offered a full-time job at the design firm where she is working as a temp, she enacts a plan to reinvent her life to make healthier choices. When she is not given the job after all, she descends even further into a pit of despair. The novel considers themes related to loneliness, stagnancy, and office culture, among others.
