Charles Martin’s romance novel, The Mountain Between Us, chronicles a heroic survival story. After their flight is cancelled because of snowy weather, Ben Payne, a surgeon, and Ashley Knox, a writer, board a charter plane together, determined to get across the mountains and home one way or another. When the plane crashes, the two of them are thrust into a life or death struggle where even the simplest act requires careful consideration. Ashley breaks her leg in the crash, and Ben must pull her to safety on a sled. They survive cold and isolation in the wild for almost a month, coming to love each other on the way.
