The Little Widow From the Capital Overview

In Yohanca Delgado's short story "The Little Widow from the Capital," when a young widow from Santo Domingo moves into a New York apartment building, her neighbors immediately judge and ridicule her. Rather than getting to know her, they gossip and spread rumors about her. After the widow's new lover breaks her heart, however, the neighbors begin to feel guilty for how they have treated the widow. Written from the first person plural point of view, the short story explores themes including bias, truth, and guilt.
