“Sycamore Gap” is a free-verse poem by English Poet Louise McKenna. It first appeared in the online journal Crow & Cross Keys in 2025. The poem describes the felling of a heritage tree in Northumberland in 2023, and the speaker’s reflection on the act. Through it the speaker considers the nature of memory and time.
