Love That Doth Reign and Live Within My Thought (Poem) Overview

"Love that doth Reign and Live within my Thought" is a sonnet by Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. It was likely written in the 1530s or 1540s. The poem was first published in a volume entitled Tottel's Miscellany, which was the first printed collection of English poetry (named after its printer, but containing works by several noblemen, including Howard) in 1557. It is a very loose translation of a sonnet by Petrarch on the theme of unrequited love.
